What is the typical cost to develop and operate a website?

There are normally four different types of cost involved in developing and operating a website.

DOMAIN NAME COST: A domain name, or URL, is the name by which visitors and search engines will reach your website. Domain names can be purchased on a yearly basis from companies known as domain name registrars and usually cost between $10-20 per year.

WEBSITE HOSTING COST: The pages of a website are stored on a special computer connected 24/7 to the internet and referred to as a server. Visitors reach a website reach its web pages by typing in a domain name which is then electronically linked to a specific server. In general, the cost for website hosting varies and is based on the overall size of the website, the amount of information transmitted to all visitors coming to the site during a month, and the number of specialized services required (for example, if the site will display videos). Today, for small to medium size websites, website hosting usually costs between $7-15 per month.

WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT COST: Once the final design is selected, we then use the clients' content to create the actual pages of the final website. Depending on the project we may also create additional graphics or photographs. When all the pages are completed, the site is thoroughly tested for accuracy and then presented to the client for final review and testing.

PERIODIC COST TO UPDATE A SITE: Once the client has reviewed and tested the website, we will make the site live. on the Internet This process involves electronically transferring the web pages to a hosting company and testing everything one last time. At this point, the website is fully operational and available to visitors on the Internet.
