Black & White Photography Portfolio

During the several decades I've spent working as a landscape photographer, much of that time has been spent capturing the beauty of America's National lands. And over the past few years, I've had the honor of serving as the National Park Service artist in residence where I lived and photographed inside 12 of America's national parks and forests 4-8 weeks at a time. To honor the long history of these parks and capture them in a time-appropriate way roughly one-half of my photography is done using vintage black and white film cameras. My most favorite is an all wooden Seneca camera from 1907 equipped with a nearly three foot long bellows. To photograph with this camera, I drape a dark cloth over myself and the camera and view what the camera sees through a large glass plate.
