Description
Hocking Hills, Ohio
On my first visit to Hocking Hills State Park I hiked to Rock House. It’s a cave located high upon a sandstone cliff. Although I rarely photograph caves, I quickly felt there was something special inside to photograph, but what that was I didn’t know. For over an hour I sat in the dark watching hundreds of visitors walk in, quickly look around and then leave. As my eyes slowly adjusted they were drawn upward and in the dim light saw the faint hint of colors the shape of a face, a bird and others sculpted into the rock. This photo was made late in the day using a very long exposure to help reveal all the beautiful colors and details. [Photo 8658]
