Description
Smoky Mountains National Park, TN
During the 4-weeks I spent living inside this park as artist-in-residence I traveled on an unlighted narrow 2-lane road in the dark four days in a row to photograph the moon near sunrise from atop the 6,643 foot tall Clingmans Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee. On each of the first three days the sky and mountain ranges were hidden by dense fog or snowstorms or the moon was too high in the sky. But, on the forth day, with cool temperatures, clear weather and the crescent moon perfectly positioned in the sky the moment was ideal to capture this beautiful scene. [Photo 1674A]
