Description
Gelatin Silver Black & White Photograph
A lone figure walks slowly through an early morning snowstorm. This image was photographed using a 36″ long all-wood bellows film camera manufactured in 1907. With this type of camera the photographer composes their photo while watching a large glass screen and while their body is draped in a dark cloth to make seeing the screen easier. I had setup the camera early in the morning during a heavy snowstorm and after a few minutes this individual began walking through the snow to create this almost timeless scene. The high quality black & white print of this photo is made using an elaborate 150 year “gelatin silver” darkroom process. (Photo 3535)
