Red Rock Canyon, NV
Located a short drive from Las Vegas, Red Rock Canyon is a stunningly beautiful area filled with dramatic hills and immense rock formations painted in brilliant hues of red and brown. While those formations are easy to photograph during the day, I wanted to create an image that conveyed the scale of those formations, the timeless nature of those eons-old rocks and the deep black nighttime sky of the area. This early morning photograph captured at 2am reveals a portion of the Milky Way rising over the moon-lit rock formations of the canyon. [Photo 6511A]
