Description
Wayne/Holmes County, Ohio, OH
Years ago I learned that while grey in color, cranes creatively use mud to stain their feathers in shades of red, rust and brown to attract mates and hide from predators. For hours I watched in a remote marsh area called Killbuck Marsh, as this “painted” pair repeatedly flew past with twigs, grass and reeds constructing a hidden nest in the distance. Nature constantly amazes me in her perfection and in her beauty. [Photo: R-10367]
